This year, join us in celebrating the Glen H. Williams 2025 Power of One Award Honoree, Bob Barker Co. Founded in 1972, Bob Barker Co. has been a pillar in North Carolina, providing many new, innovative products to help solve customers’ problems and make corrections facilities safer. The company is family run and operates with a distinct mission, "Grow. Redeem. Inspire Transform." and is lead by core values that permeate not only how Bob Barker Co. does business, but how they shine as a community partner: Start With Love, Act With Courage, Deliver Solutions, Perform With Distinction, Be Humble. Lead by this ethos, over the years, Bob Barker Co. has supported many nonprofit organizations dedicated to reducing recidivism. A distinguished Second Chance Employer, Bob Barker Co. has been voted one of Triangle Business Journal's Best Places to Work in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
As a longtime supporter of Communities In Schools of North Carolina through the Bob Barker Co. Foundation, the company champions our work with students most in need, particularly with our Reentry to Resilience program.
The Reentry to Resilience program provides a bridge for youth transitioning from Youth Development Centers back into their families, schools and communities with a unique approach to wraparound supports and services. Youth Success Coaches begin working with youth and their families long before release to create continuing education plans, opportunities for work, independent living options and many other supports depending on the needs of the youth. Our Peer Support Specialist wraps families in support and helps parents tackle challenges in the home around basic needs, routing community resources, and ensuring that youth have a safe, welcoming place to call home.
We work with youth and their families for up to 6 months post release, providing crucial support at times when the youth and family may be vulnerable. This program is tremendously successful in putting youth on the path to success and disrupting the school to prison pipeline, which saves society a considerable amount of tax dollars and puts youth and their entire families on a more positive path to success and hope.
The Power of One Award was established to recognize exemplary performance by an individual identified
by their colleagues as having consistently demonstrated integrity and a strong commitment
to the mission and values of Communities In Schools of North Carolina.
Award recipients have made a significant impact on the CIS of North Carolina network and ultimately
our students and families through outstanding dedication and excellent volunteer leadership service
as demonstrated by commitment, accomplishments, and special skills and qualities.
Awardees have a clear passion for student success, an attitude of perseverance in all circumstances,
and a commitment to education.
"Education is one of the most powerful tools we have to break the cycle of incarceration-not just for those behind bars, but for the generations that follow them. When someone gains knowledge, they gain hope, purpose, and the ability to see a future beyond the walls they've known.
For youth, especially those who've grown up with incarceration as a part of their family story, education offers a different narrative. It tells them: 'You are more than your circumstances. You are capable. You are called to something greater.
At the Bob Barker Foundation, we believe that when we pair education with spiritual growth and community support, lives change. We're not just reducing recidivism-we're raising up leaders, restoring families, and helping people discover their God-given potential."
Join us in celebrating the tremendous contributions Bob Barker Co. has made to North Carolina on Thursday, September 25th at the Back to School BASH!
